Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup (150g) Unsalted Butter
  • 1 1/4 cups (250g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Vanilla Extract
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 3/4 cup (95g) All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup (45g) Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (dutch-process)
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) Salt
  • 1/2 cup (55g) Walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup (85g) Chocolate Chips

directions:
  1. Line an 8in (20cm) square pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180*C).
  3. In a large bowl, place the butter. Melt using a double boiler or microwave for about 1 minute. If the bowl is too hot, let it cool at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Add the sugar and vanilla extract. Whisk to combine.
  5. Add the eggs and whisk to combine.
  6. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix the flour. Note: If your cocoa powder is too lumpy, make sure to sift before using it.
  7. Stir in the walnuts and chocolate chips.
  8. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Let it cool to room temperature and cut into squares.
