Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup (125g) All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp (8g) Baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 Tbsp (24g) Granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup (160g) Milk at room temperature
  • 3 Tbsp (40g) Vegetable oil (any flavorless vegetable oil like canola, corn, or sunflower)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla (opcional)
  • 1/2 cup (150g) Nutella at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup (55g) Chocolate chips

For the Frosting:

  • About 2/3 cup (200g) Nutella

Instructions

For the Cake:

  1. Line a muffin tin with 10-11 paper liners. Set it aside. 
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) for about 5 minutes before baking the cupcakes. 
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar into a large bowl. Whisk to combine the dry ingredients. 
  4. Add the milk and vegetable oil. Whisk gently until just combined. You can add 1/2 tsp of vanilla. 
  5. Stir in the Nutella until smooth, then add the chocolate chips. Don’t overmix the batter. 
  6. Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full. 
  7. Bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center come out with a few moist crumbs. 
  8. Let them cool for about 10 minutes, and transfer the cupcakes to a cooling rack. 
  9. These cupcakes are very soft and delicate, so I suggest you refrigerate them for about 1 hour before adding the frosting. 

For the Frosting:

  1. Place about 1 tablespoon of Nutella on top of each cupcake and spread with a small spatula. 

Notes

If not consumed on the same day, store the cupcakes in the fridge for up to 5 days.
