Dalgona Chocolate Mousse (no cream, no eggs)
Quick and easy Dalgona chocolate mousse. Learn how to make a delicious and creamy chocolate mousse flavored with coffee! The perfect dessert for Valentine’s Day or any other occasion!
Ingredients
- 150g (about 1 cup) Dark chocolate (50-70% cocoa solids - see notes)
- 1/3 cup (80g) Hot water
- 1 Tbsp (6g) Instant coffee
- 1/2 cup (100g) Granulated sugar (see notes)
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. Let it sit at room temperature while making the coffee mixture.
- Combine the hot water, instant coffee, and sugar. Beat on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes or until light and frothy.
- Add about 1/3 of the whipped coffee to the melted chocolate. Using a wire whisk, mix vigorously until smooth.
- Then add the remaining coffee mixture in two additions, folding gently until just combined.
- Pour the mixture into 4 small serving cups and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Keep refrigerated until serving time.
Notes
Don’t skip the instant coffee or change the amount of sugar. Otherwise, the coffee mixture won’t whip properly.
I don’t recommend using milk chocolate because the mousse will be too sweet since the coffee mixture calls for 1/2 cup of sugar. Chocolate is the main ingredient in this mousse, so make sure to use good-quality chocolate.
