Creamy Smooth Cream Cheese Chocolate Frosting. This delicious chocolate frosting is super easy to make! With a super creamy texture and a rich chocolate flavor, this frosting isn’t as sweet as regular buttercream. Perfect for cakes and cupcakes!
Ingredients
- 220g (about 1 1/2 cups) Semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chips
- 1/3 cup (75g) Unsalted butter at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups (340g) Full-fat cream cheese at room temperature
- 1 tsp (5g) Vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (160g) Powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup (22g) Unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let it cool at room temperature for a few minutes.
- Combine the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla in the bowl of an electric mixer.
- Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder on top. Stir to combine.
- Beat on medium speed for a few minutes until well combined.
- Add the melted chocolate and beat until smooth. Make sure the melted chocolate is not warm, or it will cause the butter to melt, and the frosting will become too soft.
- Refrigerate the frosting for 20-40 minutes, if necessary, until thick enough to spread and pipe.
- You can store the frosting in the fridge for up to 3 days. Remove from the refrigerator, let it stand at room temperature, and stir with a spatula to smooth it out before using.
