Chocolate Chip Vanilla Cake Donuts


Chocolate Chip Vanilla Cake Donuts Recipe. A soft and fluffy vanilla cake donut full of chocolate chips and topped with a delicious chocolate glaze. A simple recipe that is fun to make for any occasion!

Ingredients:
Cake Donuts:
  • 1 1/4 cups (155g) All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp (8g) Baking Powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2/3 cup (130g) Granulated Sugar
  • 2/3 cup (110g) Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Large Egg at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (120g) Plain Yogurt at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup (55g) Melted Butter, unsalted
  • 2 tsp (10g) Vanilla Extract
Chocolate Glaze:
  • 1 cup (135g) Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp (13g) Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Tbsp (30g) Milk (and a bit more, if necessary)

Directions:
Cake Donuts:
  1. Grease a donut pan or silicone mold with vegetable oil or cooking spray. Dust with flour and tap to remove the excess. Set it aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  3. In a large bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Stir the dry ingredients until well combined.
  4. Add the chocolate chips and stir until they are all coated with flour. Set it aside.
  5. In a medium bowl, place the egg and, using a wire whisk, mix for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Add the yogurt, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
  7. Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and stir gently using a spatula until just combined. It will form a thick batter. Do not overmix.
  8. With the help of a piping bag, fill the prepared donut pan about 2/3 full.
  9. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let them cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature, unmold the donuts and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Chocolate Glaze:
  1. In a medium bowl, sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and stir until it forms a glaze. If the glaze is too thick, you can add a little bit more milk.
  2. Using a spoon, pour the glaze over the donuts and immediately add some chocolate sprinkles on top before the glaze starts to set.
  3. You can store these donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 or 4 days.
