This 5-Ingredient Creamy Chocolate Dessert is so smooth and delicious! If you like recipes with chocolate, this homemade dessert is a must-try!
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp (18g) Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (480g) Milk, cold or at room temperature
- 1/2 cup (55g) Cornstarch
- 2/3 cup (200g) Sweetened condensed milk
- 150g (about 1 cup) Semi-sweet chocolate
Instructions
- Begin by cutting the chocolate into small pieces. Set it aside.
- Grease a 6x6in (15x15cm) glass container with cooking spray or vegetable oil. Don’t use butter, or the mixture will stick after refrigeration.
- In a large bowl, place the cocoa powder. Add the milk a bit at a time, stirring after each addition until the cocoa powder is completely dissolved. Then add the remaining milk.
- Add the cornstarch to the mixture and stir until completely dissolved.
- Finally, incorporate the condensed milk.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly. As soon as it starts to thicken, reduce the heat to low and continue stirring vigorously for about 1 minute to achieve a smooth consistency.
- Turn off the heat, add the chopped chocolate, and stir until smooth. The heat of the mixture will melt the chocolate.
- Immediately spread the mixture into the prepared container before it starts to firm up. Smooth the top and cover it with plastic wrap in direct contact.
- Refrigerate for about 2 to 3 hours.
- To serve, run a small knife or spatula around the sides of the container and carefully turn it upside down onto a serving plate.
- Trim the sides using a long knife (this step is optional) and sift cocoa powder on top for a decorative touch.
- Finally, cut the dessert into squares and serve.
