2-Ingredient Chocolate Cake


2-ingredient chocolate cake! Learn how to make this brownie-like chocolate cake! It takes just 2 ingredients and a few minutes to make this delicious dessert!

Ingredients:
  • 300g (about 2 cups) Milk Chocolate
  • 5 Eggs at room temperature (separate the whites from the yolks)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla or Almond Extract (optional)

Directions:
  1. Line an 8-inch (20cm) square pan with parchment paper. Set it aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) for about 5 minutes before baking the cake.
  3. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth. Set it aside at room temperature until slightly warm.
  4. Place the eggs whites in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  5. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, beating a few minutes more until fluffy and pale yellow.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate into the mixture and mix until well combined using a wire whisk. Note: make sure to use room temperature eggs. Otherwise, the chocolate will harden and not mix properly with the eggs.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Important: the cake will rise to the top and deflate as it cools.
  8. Let it cool completely at room temperature. Cut into squares and serve. Ps: the cake tastes even better when combined with a scoop of ice cream!
  9. If not consumed on the same day, keep the cake refrigerated for up to 5 days. Remove from the fridge about 30 minutes before serving.
